Pontiac G8: General Motors Company released official information about the new sportsman Pontiac G8. Under this name, a modification of the Australian rear wheel drive Holden Commodore, built on the new Zeta platform, will be delivered to America.
The front suspension is on the McPherson struts, the rear suspension is multi-link. On the same platform, a new “muscle-car” Chevrolet Camaro, which will go on sale in 2009, is created.
The Pontiac G8 will be available in two versions. The base G8 will be equipped with a 3.6-lor V6 engine with a power of 261 hp, working in tandem with a five-speed automatic transmission. Under the hood of the “advanced” G8 GT will be a six-liter “eight” with a capacity of 362 hp. – Another version of the lower-engine Chevrolet LS2. Such machines will be equipped either with a six-speed automatic or with a mechanical gearbox with the same number of speeds.
In terms of overall dimensions and characteristics, the Pontiac G8 corresponds to the European business class (Audi A6, BMW fifth series): length – 4982 mm, wheelbase – 2915 mm, width – 1899 mm.
The appearance and finish of production cars will almost completely replicate the show car presented at the show in Chicago. Do not go to the series only 20-inch wheels and a dashboard, leather-clad. The design of the sedan is given the family Pontiac features: the “nostrils” of the radiator grille, two air intakes in the hood. Replaced by a small spoiler rear wing on the trunk lid for a small fee can be returned – as part of the Sport Package.
