Several years ago, Mercedes took the practice to declassify the interior of new models before the premiere of the cars themselves. Most recently we saw the interior of the future A-class , and now it’s time to admire the interior of the new Highline. Like?
We already wrote in detail about the G-class of the next generation. In short, it will retain the frame structure, a characteristic angular shape and transmission with locks of all three differentials. At the same time the body becomes wider, in its design there will be aluminum, the front independent suspension and the new power units are promised. And the salon is now made in the spirit of modern cars Mercedes E and S-class.
On the front panel there are two 12.3-inch displays for a combination of instruments and a media system, with three options for design (Classic, Sport and Progressive). But traditional analogue devices with two wells will be offered for those who wish – and there is a suspicion that in the case of the G-class this option will prove to be in demand.
The steering wheel with touch panels on spokes is like the current S-class. The gearbox selector has moved from the central tunnel to the steering column, and at the same place is now the control panel of the media system, familiar in passenger cars Mercedes: in the current G-class, it simply had nowhere to place. Among the options – a Burmester audio system with sixteen speakers, multi-circuit front seats with a massage and ventilation, as well as heated rear rows.
However, there were elements of heredity. In tribute to the current Highline, the new machine will retain the configuration of the door trim with vertical handles and window-mounted buttons on the window sill, although all the details are new. Moreover, the developers promise to leave the characteristic sound of closing the doors – with a metallic clang of locks! This is a principle decision, because put “soft” locks with door closer is not a problem. There is another legacy of the classic Gelendwagen: the handrail in front of the passenger and the metal buttons located in a row that are responsible for locks in the transmission.
The new SUV will become much more spacious than the current SUV. The distance between the rows is increased at once by 150 mm, in the shoulders it is wider by 38 mm in front and 27 mm from the rear, there is a small increase in other directions. The rear row can be folded in a 60/40 ratio.
Can not wait to see the car itself? Wait very little: the world premiere of the new G-class will take place in early January at the Auto Show in Detroit.
