Audi earlier this year still bargained from the Fiat concern the right to the index, which Alfa Romeo called the transmission of its front drives, equipped with a “self-block”, and now Q2 – this is the smallest Ingolstadt SUV. While the smallest, because the name of Q1 is also unlikely to remain idle.
“Ku-the second” uses the MQB platform, which ties it in with the Golf and the Q3 crossover of the future generation, but the even index implies a shortened wheelbase (2560 mm) and a beveled roof. As a result, the dimensions (4190 mm in length) crossover almost repeats the three-door hatchback Audi A3, although the body will be exclusively five-door.
The rear roof rack is blind and blackened, the body is girded with a plastic kit, and the clearance is increased to 200 mm – here’s the coupe crossover for you.
On the slanting headlights and the virtual cockpit in the spirit of TT it is clear that the Q2 style was nevertheless corrected by the team of the current chief designer Mark Lichte, although the concept was based on the concept car crosslane coupe, created in 2012 under the leadership of former chief stylist Wolfgang Egger .
On the possibility of transformation, the five-seater repeats the potential of the A3: the volume of the trunk varies from 405 to 1050 liters with a folded rear sofa.
The “modular” palette of engines does not hide surprises. At the start of the career, the Q2 will be equipped with a petrol turbocharger 1.0 TSI (116 hp) or turbocharts 1.4 TSI (150 hp) and 2.0 TSI (190 hp). There are two diesel engines: 1.6 TDI (116 hp) and 2.0 TDI in two power options (150 and 190 hp). The basic gasoline versions, like the A3, have only a front-wheel drive and a semi-independent rear suspension, and since versions 1.4 TSI and a 150-horsepower 2.0 TDI crossover, the rear multi-arm and quattro transmission with the Haldex coupling are already in the base. Transmission – a six-speed “mechanics” or seven-speed DSG, but for two-liter engines, a modernized preselective transmission with an improved lubrication system and reduced friction losses has been developed.
Already in the standard equipment for Q2 an active gearbox is provided, which changes the gear ratio of the steering gear. Among the options – electronically controlled dampers and a complex drive select with a set of modes of operation of the suspension and power unit. The ESP system has an off-road operation.
Complex Audi pre sense consists of all kinds of assistant drivers, warning of the danger of collision and impact on pedestrians. The MMI system in its most advanced version implies that the instrument panel plays a 12.3-inch display, and the built-in sim card provides Internet access and a Wi-Fi point in the cabin.
